Walnut Coffee Table with Woodpecker Marquetry

A walnut tree had to come down in the client’s front yard. They contacted Mr. Szczepanski to reclaim the wood and make a coffee table for their living room. To truly make it a one-of-a-kind piece, Mr. Szczepanski created in marquetry two woodpeckers chasing each other. The inspiration for this was from a photo the client took of two woodpeckers on the walnut that was removed, preserving both the physical nature of the tree, as well as it’s spirit.

Materials: Reclaimed Walnut, Marquetry (Panga Panga, Red Heart, Yellow Heart, Holly, White Oak, Gaboon Ebony, Macassar Ebony)
Finish: Danish Oil
